Save the Date: Our 2024 National Conference
Dear MIE Community,
There’s nothing we look forward to more than getting together with our members and other leaders in the field of philanthropic impact investing. That’s why we’ve been so excited to announce that our next Mission Investors Exchange National Conference will take place May 7-9, 2024, at the JW Marriott L.A. Live in Los Angeles, California.
If you’re a returning attendee, you know what to expect from our conferences: Inspiring speakers who share cutting edge insights and meaningful advice, nuanced discussions on hot topics and creative approaches that can help to advance your practice, site visits to learn about impact investments on the ground, and networking opportunities to meet allies and potential collaborators. If you’re new to MIE and the field, then we look forward to welcoming you next May and learning about your work. See highlights from our 2022 conference here to get a sense of what to expect.
Our conference will sell out, so save the date and be ready when registration opens up this fall. Sign up now to access advance registration. We’ll be sharing more information about conference themes, speakers, and sessions over the coming months. We can’t wait to be together again!
With gratitude and great anticipation,
The MIE Team

Deep Dive on Deals Recap: Ebiara Fund
“Project by project” financing continues to lead to “project by project” results. When trying to change outcomes for place-based work, foundations have to think much broader and more holistically about how to invest capital.
That’s one of the key takeaways from MIE’s June 15 Virtual Learning Opportunity (VLO) spotlighting the Ebiara Fund, as part of our “Deep Dive on Deals” series. Established by the Kresge Foundation and CDFI partner Invest Detroit, Ebiara makes investments in Detroit-based, Black and Brown-led development firms to accelerate their ability to scale. Ebiara investors and practitioners shared candid insights on the issues the fund seeks to address, investment structure and terms, investment scaling, due diligence and underwriting, legal and closing dynamics, and post-closing monitoring. Thanks to all who participated, particularly our thoughtful speakers Keona Cowen (Invest Detroit), Roderick A. Hardamon (URGE Imprint), Tosha M. Tabron (Kresge Foundation), and Aaron Seybert (Kresge Foundation).
