Place-based Investing Week: Recap of Georgia Regional Breakout

As part of Place-Based Investing Week, a new program during the MIE 2020 virtual Conference virtually the Georgia Social Impact Collaborative hosted a regional breakout bringing together 75 participants to explore how impact capital can support investment in improved outcomes in Georgia communities.
 
Mark Crosswell, GoATL Fund (Community Foundation for Greater Atlanta, or CFGA) and the Georgia Social Impact Collaborative (GSIC) began by providing background on the GoATL Fund, the Community Foundation for Greater Atlanta’s place-based impact fund, which deploys low-cost debt through financial intermediaries for social outcomes in alignment with the Foundation’s strategy to increase equity of opportunity. From there, attendees from the Annie E. Casey and Mary Reynolds Babcock foundations among others shared strategies they are using to center onn equity in their communities.  View the complete summary of the discussion on the other CFGA site.
