Posner-Wallace Foundation

Posner-Wallace Foundation was formed in late 1950s by my parents. Current endowment is approx. $5 MM, For the past 8-10 years, we have targeted 20% toward Mission-related investments (MRIs) about half in the US, and the other half international. We have a variety of loans (senior and subordinated; mostly not collateralized; market rate and some above/below averaging about 6%, net of anticipated credit losses/write-downs of 5-10% over usual 4-7 year term of loan). Because we are a small and unstaffed foundation, we try to identify other organizations that we can follow; we do not want to manage the MRIs. Almost all of our grants (approx. $240,000/yr) are for general/recurring operating support and not tightly linked to specific program support. We are members of Washington Grantmakers; Philanthropy New York; Technology AFfinity Group; Council on Foundations. A sizable number of our grantees are to infrastructure/capacity building organizations (e.g. technology, "human capital").
