MIE's Family Foundations Gathering: F.R. Bigelow Foundation's Local Mission-Related Investing
Join us for an informal virtual gathering of Mission Investors Exchange (MIE) family foundation members on Wednesday, October 8, from 11:15 a.m.-12:30 p.m. PT/2:15-3:30 p.m. ET.
Together we’ll take a deep dive into F. R. Bigelow Foundation’s innovative, locally focused mission-related investing program. The Bigelow Foundation’s portfolio is managed by the Saint Paul & Minnesota Foundation, so we’ll also explore how this partnership strengthens local impact investing. We’ll discuss:
-
Why F. R. Bigelow Foundation’s investments are managed within the local community foundation.
-
The successes and opportunities of its market-rate, place-based portfolio.
-
How flexibility and curiosity help staff uncover local market-rate investment opportunities.
The F. R. Bigelow Foundation’s mission to bring “Wall Street to Main Street” comes to life through investments in affordable housing, venture capital, and below-market loans to nonprofits in the Twin Cities East Metro and surrounding counties.
Conversation Spark:
-
Casey Shultz, Director of Community & Impact Investing, Saint Paul & Minnesota Foundation
Community foundation members are invited to join this conversation as well.
What to Expect:
Connection: Network with peers, build community and lasting relationships, and exchange valuable insights to drive greater impact through investments.
Interactive Discussion: Participate in engaging discussions meant to provide a space for MIE members and invited guests to share strategic insights and explore innovative practices in an informal, interactive setting. All participants are encouraged to come prepared to participate, share, learn, and even have a bit of fun in the process!
