Harnessing the Power of Philanthropy for Impact

11:30-12:00PM
With Michael Brown, Seattle Foundation, and Melanie Audette, Mission Investors Exchange
When it comes to impact investing, foundations not only are entering the space at a rapid clip but playing key leadership roles in leveraging their dollars and expertise.  Philanthropic investors have a unique role - more freedom, more catalytic capital available, and more focus on mission that almost any other kind of investor. But how do those qualities play out in their work and how can others in the ecosystem partner with foundations to create even more impact?

This session begins with an exciting local story that pairs foundation capital and leadership with public, private and community resources, resulting in thousands of jobs created and lives changed for the better. The audience then will have an opportunity to pose questions that cut to the heart of identifying true impact, direct investing vs funds and intermediaries, and how the culture at foundations is evolving and changing.
