MIE’s Family Foundation Gathering: A Family Foundation’s Journey to Unlocking the Entire Endowment

All MIE family foundation members are invited to join us for an informal virtual gathering on Thursday, February 22, 2024 at 2:00-3:15 PM ET to discuss successes and challenges of committing to 100% mission-aligned and activating a new investment policy statement.
This is an interactive call featuring Nicholas Banovetz, Executive Director of Better Way Foundation, who will share how Better Way Foundation committed to 100% mission-aligned investing, including complexities with Board and Investment Committee turnover, piloting new roles and responsibilities, and analyzing how impact investing, grantmaking, perpetuity, and expenses intersect.
This is a time for impact investors in family foundations to explore topics such as:
  • How to embark on a commitment towards 100% mission alignment, including navigating complicated Board and Investment Committee dynamics
  • How to create an investment policy statement that thoughtfully combines impact investing, grantmaking, expenses, and perpetuity
  • How to resource your program with limited assets and internal capacity

This gathering is meant to provide a space for MIE members and invited guests to build community and share strategic and innovative practices. The camera-enabled call will be informal and interactive. All participants are encouraged to come prepared to participate, share,  learn, and even have a bit of fun in the process.

If there are additional topics that you would like to cover, please email Zineb Touzani at [email protected] or Melanie Audette at [email protected]

MIE members will need to log in to register. If you are having trouble with logging in, please contact Madeline Kraft at [email protected]. If you are not a member of MIE and would like to attend, please inquire at [email protected].
