MIE's Community Foundation Winter Gathering: Capacity Building & Support for Your Impact Investing Program
What to Expect
Leila Roberts, Director of Just Community Development and Investment, Humboldt Area Foundation will share how the foundation has deepened its strategic focus and built capacity internally. Leila was brought on to add a critical layer of strategy, leading efforts to prioritize racial equity, environmental health, family well-being, and economic development. She’ll also highlight two major initiatives: a Tribal Climate Resilience Network supporting nine tribal nations in climate action planning, and the $12M Klamath River Fund, backing the nation’s largest dam removal project to restore ecosystems and revitalize local economies.
Kathleen O'Shea, Director, Impact Investments, Social Finance will discuss debunking the Myths of Impact Investing from DAFs. She will address common misconceptions, explore how DAFs can be leveraged for meaningful impact, and highlight strategies to unlock their full potential.
This gathering will center on practical strategies and real-world examples of capacity building within community foundations. Attendees will gain actionable insights into how to strengthen organizational effectiveness, engage donors, enhance financial stewardship, and build resilience to better serve their communities. Our sparks and attendees will share valuable lessons from their own experiences, setting the stage for collaborative discussions and peer learning.
MIE members, log in to register for this gathering. If you have questions or challenges with registration, topic suggestions for future gatherings, or if you are not an MIE member but would like to attend, please contact Obi Asiama at [email protected].
Being on-camera and fully engaged is encouraged. Our gatherings are not recorded due to the community-building and informal nature of the calls.
