From the U.S. Supreme Court’s recent decision on homelessness to the chronic race-based gap in home ownership and capital access, the housing crisis persists as one of our country’s most pressing social and economic issues. Systemic and sustainable solutions are needed and impact investing is one tool communities can use to address the lack of affordable and available homes. For the month of October, Mission Investors Exchange (MIE) will be highlighting conversations and resources on impact investing’s role in catalyzing and scaling affordable-housing solutions.
This Virtual Learning Opportunity (VLO) will focus on challenges and untapped opportunities in affordable housing investing. Speakers will discuss strategies for taking a systems-level approach to transforming housing ecosystems and share actionable tools for sourcing high-potential investments. This conversation will provide attendees with a greater understanding of possible deal structures and best practices for investing in affordable housing.
Speakers include:
- Susan K. Thomas, President, Melville Charitable Trust
- Omar Carrillo Tinajero, Director, Programs, Center for Community Investment
- James Wahls, Senior Vice President, Programs and Initiatives, MIE
- Katheryn Witt, Director, Program Content, MIE
This VLO will be followed by a Deep Dive on Deals Oct. 17 focusing on due diligence strategies.
