Foundation Investments in Construction Careers
On February 19, 2019, Ford Foundation President Darren Walker, NoVo Foundation Executive Director Pamela Shifman, Mission Investors Exchange CEO Matt Onek, and Jobs With Justice Education Fund Co-Directors Erica Smiley and Sarita Gupta welcomed partners in philanthropy and the construction sector to an event exploring ways that foundations can move the needle on diversity and job quality for the construction workforce through their procurement efforts, capital grants, and impact investments. See below for a video recording of highlights from the event.
Pension funds and foundation endowments real estate portfolios represent an underutilized tool for creating more just and inclusive economies. Jobs with Justice has compiled a range of resources that will help pension and foundation trustees and other impact investors begin to understand the current impact of their real estate investments and to shift those investments to improve job quality and broaden the diversity of the construction workforce.
