Fishing Differently Conference 2025

The Oikos Institute for Social Impact, in collaboration with ImpactPHL and Mission Investors Exchange, will present the Fishing Differently Conference, a national gathering taking place in Philadelphia from September 3–5, 2025. This transformative event will bring together faith leaders, social entrepreneurs, and impact investors to reimagine the church’s role in advancing economic justice and revitalizing communities.

Led by Dr. Reginald Blount, Executive Director of the Oikos Institute, the three-day gathering will explore the powerful intersection of sacred spaces, spiritual formation, and financial innovation to foster equitable, sustainable communities—particularly in places long excluded from wealth-building.

Inspired by the work of Rev. Dr. Sidney Williams, author of Fishing Differently and Fishing Deeper, the conference will include keynote speakers, interactive design labs, and strategy sessions aimed at helping congregations shift from charity to capital, and from maintenance to mission. The event will begin with an energizing worship service led by Rev. Dr. Cynthia Hale, founding and Senior Pastor of Ray of Hope Christian Church in Decatur, Georgia. Known for her dynamic preaching and visionary leadership, Dr. Hale will open the conference with a message that ignites both faith and forward action.
