Luncheon Plenary: Unlocking All Assets for Impact

Our May 9 Luncheon Plenary, “Unlocking All Assets for Impact,” featured a panel of leading foundation presidents who explored strategies for unlocking the entire endowment and other assets for impact, challenging all of us to take steps to do more.

Bruce McNamer, president of Builders Initiative, moderated a conversation with Flozell Daniels, Jr., CEO of the Mary Reynolds Babcock Foundation; Sam Gill, president and CEO of the Doris Duke Foundation; and Nicole Taylor, President and CEO of the Silicon Valley Community Foundation. Together, they engaged in a discussion about what it takes to lead organizations that are shifting policy, capital, and operational infrastructure in a journey toward committing the entire endowment and other assets to impact.
Following this panel was a fireside chat with La June Montgomery Tabron, president and CEO of the W. K. Kellogg Foundation (WKKF), in conversation with influential entrepreneur Jay Brown, co-founder and vice chairman of Roc Nation.

Brown co-founded Marcy Venture Partners (MVP) with Jay-Z and Larry Marcus to invest in companies that seek positive social and environmental impact, including sustainability, inclusivity, accessibility, empowerment, and health and wellness. In 2022, WKKF made a $5 million mission-related investment in MVP’s Fund II.
