Amplifying Impact with Mission Investments

In this first member-authored installment of our series, Carol Larson, president and CEO of the David and Lucile Packard Foundation, explains the institution’s evolved approach to mission investing and how impact investing will accelerate its work to address climate change.

While planning to tackle climate change over the next 5-10 years, the Packard Foundation is experimenting with three approaches:
  1. Investing in bigger and more diverse collaborations
  2. Moving upstream to support market development
  3. Tightly integrating mission investing and grantmaking

Read more about the Packard Foundation's evolution in impact investing as well as its current priorities in our Mission Possible series in the Stanford Social Innovation Review.
