Decarbonization is a multi-decade secular trend, akin to the digitization of our economy. It involves globally scaling electrification, incorporating technological advances, rethinking buildings, leveraging industrial efficiency and increasing supply chain transparency. It has massive implications on how we view and experience the world and will be long lasting. To put it into perspective, there are over 70 countries and 4000 companies that have committed to net zero. To achieve that, it will require wholesale systemic and infrastructure change. We are already spending $5.7T per year but to meet targets, an additional $3.5T or almost 3% in Global GDP needs to be committed annually, through 2050. Launched in 2022, ScopeFour Capital is a diverse-owned investment manager that focuses on capturing one of the most significant growth opportunities of this generation: the transition to a low carbon economy. ScopeFour Capital creates value by integrating impact and alpha throughout our investment process. Our process is best suited to a long-term investment horizon and will add growth and diversification to client portfolios over a full business cycle. We utilize a science-informed framework to identify and actively invest in public companies scaling the most commercially viable and currently impactful climate solutions globally. We measure portfolio impact by quantifying the Emission Reduction Potential and the Time Value of Carbon and for each climate solution and then mapping the solutions to a proprietary universe of ~3000 global companies, each with one or more solutions tied to its business model. Our Climate Council is a curated group of academics and experts that operate as a sounding board to further validate our impact thesis. Our customized ranking factors and deep fundamental analysis uncovers a select group of companies we believe are best positioned to both financially benefit from the commitments to net zero and materially contribute to reducing global emissions.
