MCE Social Capital

MCE Social Capital is a nonprofit impact investing firm that uses a pioneering loan guarantee model to generate economic opportunities for hundreds of thousands of people, especially women, in more than 35 countries throughout the world. Since MCE began operations in 2006, it has lent more than $150 million in support of financial inclusion and poverty alleviation. MCE finances its lending by collecting philanthropic guarantees from foundations and individuals (its Guarantors), instead of upfront charitable contributions. MCE uses these guarantees as collateral to borrow capital from U.S. and European financial institutions and accredited investors, then strategically deploys this capital to microfinance institutions and small businesses creating sustainable social impact throughout the developing world.
