About the Role
Builders Vision is seeking a highly motivated and experienced Product and Project Manager to lead the planning, execution and successful delivery of our data driven products and applications. This role requires a unique blend of project management discipline, product strategy acumen, deep empathy for user experience, and technical depth to guide teams to the right solution. This role will be responsible for defining requirements, managing project timelines, resources, and risks to ensure on-scope, on-vision, on-time and on-budget delivery. This role will work across philanthropic, direct investing, asset management, legal and operations teams to find solutions for each team and ways to promote cross team collaboration and synergies.
Key Responsibilities
- Conduct in-depth analysis of business needs, user stories, and market trends to translate them into clear, concise, and actionable product requirements
- Prioritize features and initiatives based on business value, technical feasibility, and strategic impact, ensuring a balanced backlog
- Stay informed on industry trends, emerging technologies, and competitor offerings in data and analytics
- Conduct user research to understand pain points and propose solutions to add to our data product roadmap
- Socialize and consistently refine data product roadmap to ensure optimal value for stakeholders
- Define key performance indicators (KPIs) and monitor product performance. Iterate on products based on data and user feedback to drive continuous improvement
- Effectively communicate product vision, progress, and challenges to all relevant stakeholders, including executive leadership
- Provide quality assurance testing to ensure a product’s usefulness, taking the perspective of the end user as much as possible
- Decompose complex problems into straight-forward solutions
- Develop comprehensive project plans, including scope, objectives, deliverables, timelines, resource allocation, and budget
- Oversee the execution of multiple simultaneous projects from initiation to closure
- Champion and execute Agile/Scrum methodologies for project delivery by facilitating ceremonies (sprint planning, daily stand-ups, reviews, retrospectives)
- Identify, assess, and mitigate project risks and issues proactively, developing contingency plans as needed
- Effectively manage project resources, including internal teams, external vendors, and contractors, ensuring optimal utilization
- Monitor and manage project budgets, minimizing waste and non-value add activities
- Provide regular, transparent updates on project status, progress, and key metrics to stakeholders
- Prepare detailed reports and presentations
- Manage changes to project scope, schedule, and resources, ensuring proper documentation and communication
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in computer science, Business Information Systems, Engineering or related field
- 7+ years’ experience in product management, project management, or a combination of both with a strong focus on data or application development
- Proven track record of successfully delivering complex data products, analytics platforms, or enterprise applications
- Excellent communication skills, interpersonal, and presentation skills
- Experience facilitating difficult trade-off decisions as it relates to product vision, scope, timing and budget
- Strong ability to explain technical concepts to non-technical audiences
- Strong understanding of agile methodologies like Scrum/Kanban/Scrumban
- Experience with cloud-based data platforms (AWS/Azure/GCP)
- Familiarity with data governance, data quality, and data security principles
- Experience teaching and training on a wide variety of systems
- Data driven approach to decision making
- Proven record of developing highly intuitive and adopted product features
- Proven experience to influencing and leading cross functional teams without direct authority
- Proven experience in vendor management, project management and contract negotiation
- Experience with both strategic planning and hands-on technical problem-solving
