About the Role

A successful candidate for the Analyst position will have an interest in and passion for impact investing and philanthropy, a community-centered mindset and a learning orientation. They will enjoy working across all areas of the Foundation’s impact investing work and have a deep commitment to making our region more equitable. The Analyst will be a key member of the GoATL team, collaborating closely with other colleagues across the organization to help implement the Foundation’s new strategic plan, Together ATL. Reporting to impact investment leadership, the Analyst will support impact investing efforts, programs and initiatives across the Foundation’s TogetherATL strategy.
 

Key Responsibilities

  • Support impact investment leadership in identifying, analyzing and recommending impact investments
  • Engage in due diligence on investment opportunities, including reviewing and synthesizing data, conducting financial modelling, conducting reference calls and due diligence sessions and preparing impact evaluations
  • Identify and effectively communicate investment strengths, risks and mitigants
  • Assist in the creation of investment memos to share analysis, key findings and recommendations
  • Assist impact investment leadership in supporting impact investing operations, including facilitating funding in and out of the Foundation (e.g. investment and fund closings, capital calls, distributions, grants, fees and interest payments)
  • Work alongside impact investment leadership to identify and create process improvements to streamline impact investing operations, including procedures for evaluating, monitoring and reporting on impact investments and financial returns
  • Review loan documents in order to create reporting and compliance checklists for each impact investment; partner with outsourced fund administration team to ensure deadlines met
  • Partner with Asset Managers on portfolio management to ensure fund compliance and assess mission impact
  • Prepare summary reports on closed projects and maintain documentation of compliance activities for funder, board and other stakeholder report completion
  • Update summary financial documents and risk matrices for portfolio companies to track portfolio health
  • Support Asset Managers and other staff with applications for new funds and ongoing compliance
  • Prepare reports, presentations and other documents in support of impact investing operations
  • Archive, curate, and document knowledge and contact information, keeping information current and easily accessible for team members to understand and disseminate with stakeholders
  • Complete administrative tasks related to reporting, compliance, wire confirmations and invoices
  • Represent the impact investing team in pertinent, recurring cross-functional meetings – support agenda creation, notetaking and follow-through on action items
  • Provide general operations support for the impact investing team and the overall impact investing strategy, including some light event support around investment committee meetings, staff education events and donor engagement functions

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in finance, accounting, business, economics, nonprofit management or related field(s) OR 2+ years of transactional experience related to the duties and responsibilities outlined in this profile (i.e. nonprofit, impact investment, commercial banking or financial services sectors); Master’s degree and/or demonstrated formal investment training is preferred
  • Flexible, resourceful, and proactive self-starter able to prioritize and manage multiple tasks and competing priorities
  • Extremely organized and detail-oriented with experience in coordinating short-term and long-term projects with multiple stakeholders, performing duties with high attention to detail and quality
  • Excellent written and oral communication skills; ability to distill and explain complex information, data and technical details to a multiplicity of audiences and partners; ability to work alongside a diverse group of colleagues across departments to complete tasks and accomplish goals
  • Good problem-solving skills with a strong sense of urgency in a fast-paced workplace
  • Strong analytical and evaluative skills; preferred ability to read, interpret and analyze financial statements (credit or lending experience a plus)
  • Excellent interpersonal skills, ability to work with and provide high-quality customer service to a variety of community, public and private sector partners; ability to coordinate meetings and stakeholder convenings
  • Experience in impact measurement and management (IMM) with data visualization focus a plus
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite, including advanced experience in Excel and financial modelling.
  • Deeply committed to changing systems across metro Atlanta making our region a better place for all residents to live; experience in the nonprofit and/or philanthropy sector preferred; deep knowledge of metro Atlanta preferred
  • Deeply committed to racial equity; familiarity with common words and concepts in the Diversity, Equity, Inclusion, Belonging, and Justice field; volunteer or professional experience in this space preferred
