January 2023: New Year’s Greetings, Upcoming Open Mic, New Board Members, and More

A Year of Possibility
Dear Friends,
Hope you are having a great start to the new year! We ended 2022 on a high note, with the return of our in-person National Conference in early December. It was tremendous to see so many of you in Baltimore, and to be reminded of how much we gain by being together and having candid discussions on the issues that matter most to our field.
We are carrying that positive energy into 2023, as we look ahead to a year of new possibilities and plans. MIE will present a dynamic program of events that will continue exploring the critical themes of our conference, as well as other opportunities for professional enrichment and meaningful connection. In particular, we are excited to hold our Mission Investing Institute in a hybrid format, with an in-person element. Stay tuned for a Save the Date with more details.
We are deeply grateful to have you as partners in the impact investing movement. If you haven’t yet renewed your membership, please take a moment to do so here. Thank you for being a part of our community.
Warm Wishes,
The MIE Team

Upcoming Programs and Events
MIE creates spaces for facilitating connection and learning for our members and the wider field. Here's what's planned for the weeks ahead.
Building on the momentum of MIE’s National Conference and our engagement in a recent impact journalism event around SOCAP, we are hosting an Open Mic event geared especially to foundation members who have senior communication professionals engaged in their impact investing programs. Open to those already experienced in messaging around impact investing, this informal gathering will be an opportunity to share the strategies and complexities of teaching through story, quantitative measures, and interpretation of research, via multiple communication channels. Join a fun and energetic roundtable to connect with peers at foundations from across the country and start off your 2023 communication efforts.
MIE members, log in to register for this Open Mic. If you are not a member of MIE and would like to attend this Open Mic, please reach out to [email protected].

Our MIE 2022 National Conference conference was indeed a homecoming—more than 600 impact investors in philanthropy came together in Baltimore from December 5-7 to build partnerships, experience on-the-ground impact investments, exchange ideas, and more. The spirit of the conference lives on in our Resource Library on the MIE website. Check out our recorded plenaries, recaps, blogs, investment galleries, and more.
