Capital Impact Partners Issues Impact Investment Notes
Capital Impact Partners is the latest CDFI to turn to retail investors to offer up to $100 million of fixed-income notes. Akin to bonds, the notes will use the funds raised to expand its ability to lend in underserved communities, consistent with its mission. The AA-rated notes are available to investors in 47 states starting at $1,000. Capital Impact’s CEO Ellis Carr said he used feedback from family offices, foundations and other institutional investors to create a product that could be easily tradable. Others with retail impact investment notes include Calvert Impact Capital and Enterprise Community Partners.
