Summary / Objective
Avivar's Strategic Advisory Services Group (SASG) serves as the firm’s front line in guiding clients through the design and implementation of impact investment strategies and portfolios. This group translates client goals into actionable plans, develops investment policies, and conducts landscape scans to identify investment opportunities and strategic impact investing partners for clients. SASG may at times be working in collaboration with clients’ existing advisors to ensure seamless integration. The group’s work is deeply rooted in mission alignment and tailored to each client’s unique objectives. Alongside other groups at Avivar, the SASG actively contributes to business development, field building, training, education, research and writing activities at the firm.
The Vice President plays a pivotal role in leading the group to successfully deliver and execute on the SASG’s core role and responsibilities. The Vice President efficiently manages multiple projects and deliverables, demonstrates expertise across all impact investment transaction and strategy types, and anticipates client questions with thoughtful, mission-aligned responses. In addition to client work, the Vice President actively contributes to business development, field building, training, education, and research activities at Avivar, embodying the firm’s values of integrity, excellence, and partnership while mentoring junior staff and driving continuous improvement across the group and the Firm as a whole.
The VP SASG will have a demonstrated track record in business development, client relations, impact investment strategy development, market research and data analysis, financial analysis, transaction structuring, investment due diligence, project management, and training and mentoring of junior investment professionals.
Essential Functions and Responsibilities

Lead the design and implementation of impact investment strategies and portfolios for clients, translating client goals into actionable plans and investment policies.

Conduct landscape scans to identify investment opportunities and strategic impact investing partners, ensuring recommendations are tailored to each client's unique objectives.

Collaborate with client's existing advisors and internal teams to ensure seamless integration of advisory services and mission alignment.

Efficiently manage multiple projects and deliverables, ensuring on-time completion and adherence to Avivar's high standards across all client engagements.

Demonstrate expertise and fluency across all impact investment transaction and strategy types, including diversified asset classes, market-rate and catalytic returns, and intermediary versus direct investing.

Prepare or oversee preparation of high-quality reports, distilling insights, key findings, and recommendations for clients.

Design operationalization plans for clients' impact investment strategies, including governance and implementation frameworks.

Anticipate client questions and deliver thoughtful, mission-aligned responses that instill confidence and trust.

Facilitate review of processes and recommend improvements to enhance group and firm-wide effectiveness.

Effectively teach technical competencies to junior staff, mentor and support professional development and provide constructive feedback.

Actively contribute to business development, field building, training, education and research and writing activities at Avivar.

Contribute to ongoing refinement of Avivar products, services, marketing and communications, and internal systems. Participate in new business lines and product development, as requested.

Represent Avivar externally through marketing presentations, conferences, and other business development opportunities.

Desired Qualifications
Education
-
Bachelor's Degree required. Graduate degree or comparable designation in finance, accounting, law or related field strongly preferred.
Years and Type of Experience
-
Experience or familiarity with impact investing and non-profit organizations strongly preferred.

Minimum of 6 years of investment, finance and/or accounting experience required, including people management experience.

Experience leading investment due diligence across asset classes for funds, intermediaries, direct start-ups, nonprofit organizations and/or real estate projects.

Experience leading portfolio monitoring and reporting activities across asset classes for funds, intermediaries, direct start-ups, nonprofit organizations and/or real estate projects.

Experience completing investment research and/or landscape scans.
Finance / Accounting / Investment Knowledge

Exceptional transaction modeling, investment structure and valuation analysis.

Experience executing and managing research and translating data into strategic recommendations to aid in decision making.

Exceptional critical/strategic thinker and market orientation.

Series 65 must be completed within 6 months of hire. A candidate may be exempted if he/she possesses a professional license or designation qualifying for an exemption per the SEC (i.e., a CFA).

Supervisory Responsibilities
Oversees SASG Associates, Analysts, Summer Associates and Contractors in all SASG work.
Work Environment
Avivar Capital is currently a virtual operation with frequent online meetings and remote offices. The full team aims to gather in-person once per year, with project teams gathering periodically at client meetings and industry conferences.
Position Type and Hours of Work
Full-Time, Exempt. The position will report directly to Avivar Capital's Managing Directors. The salary range for this position is $158,100 - $208,000 annually, commensurate with experience and qualifications.
Travel
Willingness to travel ~1 week/month, which may be more concentrated in certain seasons.
Physical Demands
Remaining in a seated position. Entering text or data into a computer or other machine by means of a traditional keyboard. Traditional keyboard refers to a panel of 10-keys used as the primary input device on a computer, typographic machine or 10-key numeric keypad.
