About the Role
The Investment Analyst will support all aspects of the Firm’s investment strategy and portfolio management process as part of the OCIO and the Sustainable Investors Fund mandates. While Capricorn also has a venture capital arm (the Technology Impact Fund), the Analyst role will not focus on that activity.
The Analyst program is a 2-year program during which you will support the investment process from portfolio analysis to investment origination, and the commitment of capital into external fund managers. You will gain exposure to investment funds and the underwriting process across all asset classes (Venture Capital, Private Equity, Real Assets, Public Equities, Hedge Funds, Credit Funds, etc.). Your primary responsibilities will include portfolio analysis, investment due diligence & underwriting and monitoring of new and existing investments into funds for both the OCIO platform and the Sustainable Investors Fund partnership. At the end of the 2-Year program, candidates are encouraged to seek new professional or academic opportunities. Candidates may be invited to remain with Capricorn at the discretion of the firm.
Key Responsibilities
- Support portfolio management through market, performance and risk analysis.
- Support investments into funds by assisting in sourcing, due diligence, negotiating, monitoring, and exiting investment opportunities.
- Build financial models to support portfolio management and investment due diligence outlined above.
- Integrate sustainability and diversity considerations into the investment process, as well as underwriting and engagement with fund managers.
- Prepare and present comprehensive investment recommendation documents for the investment committee detailing the investment thesis and due diligence on an investment opportunity with supporting quantitative models and analysis.
- Actively participate and engage in collaborative discussions on all investments recommended for inclusion into the portfolio.
- Map and monitor the landscape of funds in various asset classes/impact verticals.
- Engage with colleagues across the firm on special projects as needed.

Qualifications
- 1 – 4 years of experience in investment banking, investment/asset management, financial data analytics, or a top tier consulting firm.
- Proficiency with data/financial modeling skills in Excel and general knowledge of accounting, finance, portfolio theory and capital markets.
- Experience or strong interest in returns-driven sustainable investing.
- Ability to articulate and defend well-reasoned opinions through both oral and written communication with strong attention to detail.
- Proactive, autonomous, and intuitive ambition to problem-solving with limited oversight.
- Ability to analyze and identify the central issue in complex situations.
- Experience with some of the following data providers is preferred: Preqin, Pitchbook, Bloomberg, Capital IQ, Burgiss.
- Experience maintaining a CRM system is preferred.
- SQL and Python experience is a plus.
- Minimum education: BA/BS in Finance, Economics, Engineering, or Data Analytics.
- Willingness to travel up to 10% of the time.
