The Role and Opportunity
The Coordinator of Finance & Operations will support the execution of strategic organizational priorities and the day-to-day tasks of the Finance and Operations team. Examples of MIE’s finance and operations activities include payroll and financial tracking, consultant and vendor management, human resources, fundraising and sponsorships, and special projects. The Coordinator reports to the Senior Director of Finance and Operations to carry out day-to-day projects and functions.
This is an ideal remote opportunity for a professional that is seeking to gain exposure to impact investing and philanthropy while continuing to advance in their practice of finance and operations.
Key Responsibilities
Operations Coordination
- Support the management of third party consultants and vendors, including working with legal counsel, monitoring agreements, contracts, and invoices
- Coordinate activities related to maintaining organizational compliance needs, including state registrations, insurance policies, and annual renewals
- Manage information technology accounts in partnership with our IT vendor, assisting with implementing new technologies, administering cyber security training for staff, and maintaining best practices
- Support the Human Resources function by assisting with new hire recruitment, the onboarding and offboarding of staff, maintaining human resource policies, ensuring compliance with staff trainings, and labor law notices
- Assist in the data entry of member and prospect information into Salesforce, including updates to staffing, contact information, and follow-up actions
- Assist in the scheduling of staff meetings across teams, including the complex scheduling of the Senior Leadership Team
- Schedule annual Board & Committee meetings and assist with Board compliance and maintaining Board documentation
- Assist with staff retreat planning, including activities, meals, hotel blocks, etc.
- Coordinate and execute projects related to research, pilots, and special initiatives
- Monitor and facilitate responses to emails sent to MIE’s general inboxes
Financial Coordination

Support fundraising and sponsorship efforts, including assisting in the development of grant applications, grant reporting, coordinating prospects, and financial tracking

Manage data entry and approval of financial transactions, including monthly credit card transactions

Manage the process of inputting all historical grant data into Salesforce

Assist in other financial processes as needed
Administrative

Support the development of presentations, reports, and related materials

Collaborate with fellow team members on finalizing executive, board, and member-facing documents

Maintain data and files via collaborative platforms like Salesforce, Asana, Slack, and Google documents
Professional Experience & Qualifications

A minimum of one to three years of professional experience ideally in finance, administration, and/or operations

Exceptional organizational skills, attention to detail, with an ability to execute against a work plan to deliver high-quality and timely outputs

Excellent written and verbal communication skills

Excellent interpersonal skills, along with diplomacy, tact, and good humor

Bachelor’s degree in a related field preferred
MIE is committed to offering a competitive compensation package. The starting salary for this role ranges from $55,000 to $65,000 based on individualized factors, including geographic location, job-related knowledge, skills, and experience. The recruiting team is committed to sharing more details regarding compensation based on the candidate's individualized factors during the interview process. Benefits include paid time off and sick leave, 12 paid holidays, medical, dental, vision, and 403(b) retirement plan with matching, along with other elective options. The role is an “at-will position” and MIE reserves the right to modify base salary (as well as any other discretionary payment or compensation program) at any time, including for reasons related to individual performance, MIE or individual department/team performance, and market factors.
