About the Role
The Associate will be joining a small team building and managing a large portfolio of high-impact companies and funds tackling challenges of poverty around the world. Reporting to and working closely with the Foundation’s Managing Director of Investments, the Associate will contribute to a wide range of work across investment operations and investment management. The right candidate will be excited to wear multiple hats to support the success of the catalytic investment portfolio. This position is a full-time opportunity.
Key Responsibilities

Leveraging a portfolio management software platform, the Associate will be responsible for maintaining and updating all portfolio investment and performance data, managing portfolio company reporting, and supporting the Managing Director in analyzing and sharing impact and financial portfolio performance data with internal and external stakeholders. This will include:

Manage the use of, and design practices to optimally leverage, the team’s portfolio management software platform

Oversee the organization and file management system of the team’s Sharepoint drive, and ensure complete and accurate record keeping for the portfolio

Collate key impact and financial metrics across investments for internal and external reporting

Under the direction of the Managing Director, assist with the due diligence of investment opportunities and provide support with investment closing processes

Support the Managing Director with ongoing work to refine and adjust the investment strategy of the portfolio for greatest impact

Working with the Managing Director, contribute to designing and implementing a post-investment support strategy for the portfolio

Under the direction of the Managing Director, interface with portfolio investees to assist with ongoing investment management and the provision of post-investment support

Support research and drafting for investment and sector insight pieces

Analyze portfolio data to extract and document investment-specific and sector insights to support the production of knowledge and research materials based on lessons from the Foundation’s portfolio

Develop relationships with external partners and stakeholders including advisors and experts to provide support across the portfolio and deepen the portfolio team’s network in high-priority areas

Represent the Foundation at relevant impact investing and venture conferences and convenings

Prepare materials related to the investment portfolio for Foundation board meetings

Support the Foundation’s CFO with annual Foundation compliance reporting

Execute on ad hoc research projects to support the objectives and strategy of the portfolio, as directed by the Managing Director
Qualifications
-
Bachelor’s degree required
-
1-3 years experience in a professional environment, with a preference for candidates with exposure to early-stage investing, investment operations, or generalized operations in a fast-paced environment

Exceptional time management and organizational skills, strong attention to detail

Strong operational skills including problem-solving, project management, and appetite to design and implement processes

Excellent written and oral communication skills; ability to present arguments and analysis in a clear and succinct manner to internal and external stakeholders

Fluent in Microsoft Office Suite, including PowerPoint presentation design skills

Must be authorized to work in the U.S. on a permanent basis

Based in Salt Lake City, UT or willing to relocate
