Position Description

The Investment Analyst will support the critical investment operations of the Impact Investment Group including supporting directors with sourcing and evaluating new deals, due diligence, working with existing portfolio companies, and analyzing and valuing existing investments. In addition, the Analyst will support and help ensure the smooth and continuous operation of investment group operations. The Investment Analyst should have a working knowledge of all investment operations functions and will carry out the accurate coordination of investment closings, funding disbursements, investment management servicing system input, investment monitoring, and portfolio summary reporting. This position works directly with the investment, finance, and operations team to ensure accurate and relevant information is shared regarding the investment portfolio to enable smooth forecasting and budgeting.  Additionally, this position is responsible for knowing investment funds and program-specific compliance requirements assisting in creating a strategic plan for investment fund Operations.
This position reports to the Head of Investments and can be located in the Arlington, VA or California offices.
 Essential Responsibilities
  • Analyze and model cash flows of financial instruments on and off Capital Impact’s balance sheet
  • Monitor key performance metrics in the investment portfolio, including net present value of investments
  • Ad hoc financial modeling, analysis, and evaluation of new investments or companies
  • Prepare quarterly and annual Investor and Reports
  • Assist in quarterly Board of Director presentation preparation
  • Support the senior staff in providing finance and treasury with relevant data to ensure capital needs forecasting and future budgeting activities
  • As a CDFI industry leader, Capital Impact is at the forefront of capital innovation. The Investment analyst will model potential new fund structures, provide ad hoc financial analysis, and support peer comparison analysis for strategic purposes

Candidate Requirements

  • Bachelor's Degree in Business, Finance, Economics, or related field. MBA or related Master’s Degree, CFA, CPA a plus. 3+ years previous relevant finance, investment and analysis experience is preferred 
  • Strong written and verbal communications skills with the ability to work effectively as a team player
  • Capable of prioritizing competing requirements, managing different deadlines in dynamic working environment
  • Able to work independently and within a cross-functional team, managing multiple priorities and deadlines in a fast-paced environment.
  • Detail-oriented individual, who is organized, possesses excellent analytical and problem-solving skills and delivers on tight deadlines
  • Demonstrated interest in impact investing, and strong critical thinking, financial, and analytical skills
  • The Analyst will need to get up a learning curve quickly and be able to switch between multiple different activities in a given day
  • Prior investing experience is a plus, but not required
  • Advanced user of Excel, Word and PowerPoint
  • Ability to travel less than 20% of the time (once permitted)


The salary for this position is commensurate with experience.
