Pacific Community Ventures (PCV), a 20-year-old nonprofit CDFI, engages small businesses, impact investors, and policymakers to build an economy that works for everyone. Our approach is unique. PCV’s Lending and Small Business Advising teams connect entrepreneurs to the expertise and affordable capital they need to grow their businesses to help local economies thrive. We do this with a focus on helping them create good jobs, that address racial and gender wealth gaps, and contribute to community wealth-building. PCV’s Impact Investing Research and Consulting team executes client and research projects that empower investors and policymakers to more effectively deploy capital to underserved communities in ways that positively impact our society and environment. Our Impact Investing Research and Consulting team works with impact investors to build their capacity to achieve their desired financial returns and social and environmental impact through impact strategy development, impact measurement, management, evaluation, training and research. Our work has influenced capital markets for decades and our clients have strengthened local economies, created tens of thousands of good jobs, and driven private and public investments in underserved communities.
Are you a driven individual who is passionate about building a more equitable society? If so, please consider joining Pacific Community Ventures as our Associate Director or Director on the Impact Investing Research and Consulting team. Over the past decade, our research projects and client engagements have helped define and build the field of impact investing. Our clients include leading foundations, pension funds, community development financial institutions (CDFIs), fund managers, and policymakers doing groundbreaking work in impact investing. Our projects span a variety of fields including job quality, economic development, financial inclusion, healthy food access, affordable housing, and environmental finance. Many of our research projects are conducted in partnership with other leaders in the field, including the Global Impact Investing Network (GIIN), Impact Management Project (IMP), and the Aspen Institute.
You will play a meaningful role in the growth of PCV by leading consulting and research projects as well as managing and mentoring junior staff. You’ll bring strong managerial, analytical, writing, research, and communication skills, as well as a passion for and experience in impact investing. You should welcome the opportunity and challenge to contribute in strategy setting and business development.

At least seven years of experience in analytical or research roles, with prior consulting, impact investing, measurement, or evaluation experience preferred
Strong organizational and project management skills and ability to effectively prioritize work across multiple projects
Proven excellence in quantitative and qualitative analysis
Outstanding written, verbal, and visual communication skills
Flexibility and comfort with ambiguity
Previous experience and/or strong interest in mentoring junior team members
Expertise in impact measurement and management, environmental, social, and corporate governance (ESG) incorporation, and/or evaluation work is a plus
Strong networks within finance, philanthropy, or the impact investing industry are a plus
Location & Travel
This position will be based at our headquarters in Oakland long-term, due to the management aspects of this role. The role may involve occasional travel to other locations in California and around the United States. During the current COVID-19 shelter-in-place order, this position will be 100% remote. Onsite work in Oakland, CA will resume according to Alameda County guidelines.
